TAHANAN Outreach Projects and Services Inc. (TOPS), a non-profit, private civic organization that serves underprivileged children to prevent juvenile delinquency celebrated its 50th year recently.

The foundation was established in 1969 by women lawyers from the Judicial and Domestic Relations Court then headed by the late justice Corazon “Rosy” Agrava.

Among the notable programs implemented during her time were the Silungan program, Liwanag ng Tahanan, Tuluyan Program, Child Sponsorship, Capability Building Program, and the partnership with Habitat For Humanity Philippines.

The new president of TOPS, Valerie Agrava, grandniece of justice Agrava, said starting next year, TOPS is putting up a formal school, with pre-school in accordance with the DepEd K-12 curriculum.

TOPS will help learners with special needs by offering special education (SPED) classes. This will be complemented with an adult program that will hold special classes on arts and music and computer literacy.

TOPS hopes that it will continue to get support and donations from individuals, corporate sponsors and other institutions to continue their programs and services.
